Championship Regulations
CHAMPIONSHIP REGULATIONS
(Event sanctioned by Badminton Canada and Badminton BC)
ELIGIBILITY
- All participants must be members in good standing with an association affiliated with the Badminton World Federation.
- Participants must meet the age requirements on the opening day of the Championships - April 26, 2010. You may be asked for verification of age.
- Masters athletes under the 65+ age category may only participate in four (4) events regardless of age categories, however only two (2) events of the same discipline may be entered.
- The 65 and older age categories will be permitted to enter five (5) events provided the tournament draw schedules are not adversely affected.
ENTRY FEE
- $165.00 - Players - includes: unlimited shuttles, maximum of four (4) events (five (5) for 65+ players), opening reception, Thursday night social and Saturday evening dinner/dance. This amount is mandatory for players.
- $125.00 - Social Package (for non-players) includes all three social functions.
REGISTRATION
ENTRY DEADLINE
- Tuesday March 22nd, 2010 at midnight Toronto (EDT) time.
- All registrations (player or social) and payments must be done on-line. If this presents a problem to you, because of lack of internet access, please contact Kyle Hunter at Badminton Canada 1-613-569-2424.

- DO NOT RE-ENTER ONLINE - NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
WITHDRAWAL DEADLINE
- Sunday April 18, 2010 at midnight Toronto (EDT) time, to receive a refund.
Players withdrawing after the deadline will not receive a refund unless they provide a medical certificate signed by a physician.
- Withdrawals should be e-mailed to Kyle Hunter at Badminton Canada at khunter@badminton.ca.
- Players withdrawing from the tournament are responsible for contacting their partners.
DRESS CODE
- Coloured clothing is allowed pursuant to WBF regulations. Shoes with non-marking soles must be worn.
PLAY REGULATIONS
- Ten minute default rule.
- Three minute warm-up period on court.
- An interval not exceeding 60 seconds during each game when the leading score reaches 11 points.
- An interval not exceeding 120 seconds between the first and second game and between the second and third game shall be allowed in all matches.
CONSOLATIONS
- Consolation events will be held in all events with four or more entries. Report to the registration desk after first round loss.
DEFAULTS
- Players must be prepared to play their matches up to 30 minutes before their posted start times with due regard to the guaranteed 30 minute rest period between matches.
- Players failing to report on court for their match within 10 minutes of the match being announced will be defaulted.
- Defaulted players may not participate in consolation matches for the event in which they are defaulted.
TOURNAMENT REFEREE
- The tournament referee will be Keith Miller and his deputy will be Peter Stephensen.
SHUTTLES
- Yonex feather shuttles as approved by Badminton Canada.
EYEWEAR
- Badminton Canada and Kelowna Badminton Club both strongly encourage and recommend that players wear protective eyewear.
PRIZES
- Medals will be awarded to the winners and finalists in each main-draw event and also the winners of each consolation event.
LIABILITY
- Participants agree not to hold the employees or members of the Kelowna Badminton Club, Badminton Canada, or Badminton British Columbia liable for any injury or loss associated with this event.
